Pipe Fitter

Job Description:

  • Crawford Sprinkler is looking for experienced pipe fitters to join our company. A sprinkler fitter is responsible for installing, inspecting, and repairing sprinkler systems. Your duties will typically include installing fire protection material, fixing, and replacing defective and outdated sprinklers, and operating a threading and grooving machine, as well as installing tubes and fittings designed for sprinklers. You will also be responsible for reading designs created by our design department and implementing them in the field. Candidates will need to be able to pass a background and drug screening. Additionally, a valid driver’s license is required. A motor vehicle driving report will be pulled as part of your application process.

Sales / Estimator

Job Description:

  • The position requires the candidate to ensure the fulfillment of sales goals through identifying and generating new opportunities, maintain existing accounts, and accurately complete estimating and bidding of assigned projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of NFPA standards to analyze hazards and identify appropriate design approaches to prepare preliminary plans, understand hydraulic calculations, identify material, equipment, and price related items to prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Prepare proposals in accordance with company policy and present bid packages to customers in a professional and timely manner.
  • Actively pursue opportunities with existing and new prospective customers to build business.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years fire sprinkler sales/estimating experience.
  • Familiar with reading and understanding construction documents, including bid forms, plans, specifications, contracts, purchase orders and general agreements.
  • Must be familiar with NFPA standards and local codes.
  • Ability to analyze hazards and identify appropriate design approaches to prepare preliminary plans, understand hydraulic calculations, identify material, equipment, and price related items to prepare accurate detailed cost estimates.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the associated products.
  • Must have the willingness to be a team player.

Experience:

  • Field experience as a foreman or a fitter is a plus.

Shop Helper

Job Description:

  • The position requires the candidate to assist the shop foreman in our warehouse and fabrication shop.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures material is available for the shop and delivers to job sites.
  • Prepares each job in accordance with the fabrication list or verbal/written instructions.
  • Cut, thread and groove sprinkler pipe.
  • Receives and processes tools and material for the branch.
  • Operates shop equipment and machinery in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Reports problems and discrepancies to management.
  • Always maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Assists the Shop Foreman as required.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED Required
  • Previous shop experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to drive a stick shift delivery truck.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to drive a fork-lift.

Fire Sprinkler Service Technician / Inspector

Job Description:

  • The position requires the candidate to inspect installed fire sprinkler systems to determine if the system meets the requirements of the job and to ensure all equipment is functioning properly and completes an inspection report to record the findings.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspects and tests installed fire sprinkler systems to determine the adequacy of the system design and to verify all equipment is functioning properly. Visually inspects the entire building to identify corroded heads or other hazards, operates valves to ensure they open and shut, flushes system, identifies obstructions, makes sure bells ring, etc.
  • Completes inspection reports and deficiency lists on the condition of installed fire sprinkler systems and forwards the forms to the inspection department’s manager.
  • May perform service work such as replacing valves, gauges, flow switches, tamper switches, etc.
  • Performs time & materials work such as backflow testing, pump tests, replacing painted heads, etc. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience inspecting installed fire sprinkler systems.
  • NICET Certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of how to use of a tablet computer to record time and complete inspection reports.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Driver’s License
